Architect designed and suprisingly spacious, the gite is a sensitive modern conversion of an ancient cow shed. It's located in the grounds of our 200-year-old farmhouse, and the accomodation comprises a large open plan living / dining room and kitchen, two double bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor) each with its own bathrooms and, unusually, a mezzanine which offers additional space for relaxation, work or play.
Outside, there is a private terrace with steps leading to the solar-heated pool and parking for two cars. You'll find a barbeque and charcoal in the log store next to the gite, as well as logs for the woodburner. We also have a range of bikes which you're welcome to borrow (check which sizes we have when you book).
In developing this former agricultural building we've done our best to conserve its character so it's full of exposed stone, old beams and new oak joinery. At the same time, we have added modern comforts like underfloor heating, a woodburning stove, wireless internet access and high-quality appliances. We've also done all we can to keep its energy consumption as low as possible; heating and hot water are provided by a wood boiler (a gasification boiler, if you're technically-minded) which also heats the farmhouse. In addition, all the windows are double-glazed.
We don't like going on holiday without Circé,our golden Labrador, so well-behaved dogs are welcome without additional charge provided their vaccinations are up-to-date and as long as they are used to socialising with other dogs. Please let us know when booking if you plan to bring your dog. (Unfortunately we are unable to accept cats).
We've rented many gites in our time and we've used our experience of the best (and some which weren't so good) to create a place where you'll feel at home away from home whatever the season.
